About

The view from altitude

Who writes this site, why it’s called highlevel.ai, and the rules we hold ourselves to.

Why “highlevel”

Because that’s the vantage point. Most AI coverage is either breathless hype or bottomless technical detail. This site takes the high-level view — the big picture, seen from altitude: what AI systems actually do, how they make the decisions they make, and what those decisions mean for the people running real businesses on the ground. When the details matter, we descend into them; then we climb back up to where the pattern is visible.

To be plain about it, since names invite confusion: highlevel.ai (sometimes typed “highlevel ai” or “high level ai”) is an independent publication about artificial intelligence. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HighLevel Inc. or its GoHighLevel marketing and CRM platform, nor any other software vendor. If you came here looking for the GoHighLevel software, that is a separate company, reachable at gohighlevel.com — this site is about artificial intelligence generally.

Who’s behind it

I’m Josh Miller. I’ve spent my career in the trenches of small-business marketing — eight years of funnels, CRMs, and follow-up automation, building and fixing the machinery that turns attention into customers. I’ve run that playbook for med spas, home-service companies, agencies, and my own ventures.

In 2026 I watched that playbook get quietly outflanked. AI assistants started deciding who gets the customer before any funnel ever saw a lead — I tell that story, and what it did to this site’s direction, in From funnels to AI. The short version: I now believe the highest-leverage marketing work for most businesses is becoming the answer AI assistants give, and I rebuilt this site around explaining exactly that.

What we publish

The rules we write by

  • First-hand or labeled. Case studies come from our own projects. When we haven’t done a thing ourselves, we say so.
  • No invented numbers. If we can’t stand behind a statistic, we don’t print it. Mechanisms over metrics.
  • One recommendation, fully disclosed. We currently recommend exactly one service — TownPicked — and our referral relationship with it is disclosed on every page that links to it. If our recommendation changes, the site will say so as plainly as it said the last time we changed our minds.
  • The reader’s exit is always open. Every recommendation comes with the do-it-yourself alternative and the caveats we’d want disclosed to us.
